Travel

It’s a foolproof formula: distance often allows us to understand ourselves, our history and our communities better. At Paideia, a fulsome travel program for High School students is built around the idea of using excursions for active learning.
The destinations testify to the curriculum’s diversity and the passions of faculty and students. Examples include language-immersion trips, travel related to global public health as well as visits to broaden historical knowledge and appreciate cultural difference.Sometimes, travel influences students’ eventual career choice. Inevitably, travel is widening, deepening knowledge and prompting self-reflection.

Trip: New York City: Art in the City

Aiden Evans ’26As someone interested in acting, the trip put me face-to-face with cast members from ‘Stereophonic,’ who taught me to approach auditioning as a way to help the director solve problems. Overall, the trip strengthened my resolve to make the most of every opportunity to expand my skills in the arts.
Trip: Thailand Public Health
Rachel Ringstrom ’26I want to major in nursing in college; as a result of this trip, I am considering work in global health care. The villages we visited were so grateful for the services we provided, including vision checks, blood pressure and temperature. Even without the resources we have in America, their lives were still so beautiful and successful.
