Student Experience
A range of experiences

By being open to a range of experiences, we become more fully ourselves — testing identities, learning new skills, meeting new friends and just plain having fun.
And that’s how it works at Paideia.
Student experience rich in choice
The student experience offers diverse options beyond the classroom for students to find new talents, build networks and make awesome memories — whether it entails hitting your first homerun, bringing down the house at a theater performance or bettering the life of a community member through a service project.
Consider student experience at Paideia an “all-you-can-be” banquet; the only limits are the ones students set based on their available time and interests.
hands-on learning
By applying what they have learned, students see the value of knowledge in real time and become proficient problem-solvers. Plus, there are so many ways to bring classroom lessons to fruition through everything from tending crops on Pi Farm to seeing the world anew through travel. Learn more.
Using excursions for active learning, Paideia offers language-immersion trips, travel related to global public health as well as visits to deepen historical knowledge and appreciation of cultural difference.
Cutting-edge tools and spaces power Paideia’s program, but the true value lies in the philosophy behind it — showing students how to dig deep, innovate and take risks.
By working with community partners to support their programs and services, students create the kind of world in which we all want to live.
On campus and off, sustainability has many faces, helping us live our values of empathy, humility, a concern for justice and a dedication to service.
With Pi Farm as a focal point, the Urban Ag program involves curricular and cross-curricular activities that reinforce STEAM skills and principles, introduce environmental and sustainability themes, and tie to the school’s central subjects.

Learning long, playing strong, leaving happy

Paideia offers a program known as After-School Enrichment — an array of tempting classes after school for Elementary students. Faculty teach most of them, providing another opportunity for students to bond with their teachers. With everything from Chess to Kids Film and TV to Lego Robotics and from Elementary Choir to Nature Quest in the offing, learning and enjoyment fills the day.
Aftercare is available from 2:40-6 p.m. with activities that wind down the day in ways both relaxing and instructive. The aftercare environment has every bit of the happy hum of a neighborhood where imagination reigns supreme. Large group games might take place outside or kids might start an art project or head to the library. The possibilities are many: Get a head start on homework, find a quiet place to study and catch up with your friends.
