Faculty & Staff

Faculty are the lifeblood of Paideia, supported by equally dedicated staff who — together — ensure that all aspects of the school work to the advantage of our students.
Experts in what they do
Employing research-based teaching and learning practices, Paideia faculty at all levels devise classes that are rich, diverse and challenging. Joining the faculty is a highly competitive process that brings passionate, creative instructors here and then retains them by providing the tools and freedom they need to offer their best daily.
That means encouraging their passions, guaranteeing that their knowledge never stops growing. The result is that they lead learning with singular joy and help students bring their ideas to life.

Generous in how they do it

Paideia faculty embrace the importance of investing in the whole child, meeting students where they are and inspiring them not only to gain in their knowledge but deepen their love for it. They recognize that a vital key to unlock learning is to constantly grow in understanding what comes easily to children, what is more challenging and what they enjoy. They see, in other words, through the eyes of their students.
Faculty conceive their roles as guides, advising and showing the way. And they delight when students become guides in their own right. When teachable moments occur, faculty expertly — and gently — foster dialogue that leads to better understanding and increased growth.
Paideia teachers put their humanity on display every day, modeling the care and empathy they spark in students. Intentionally celebrating the unique gifts that all of us bring, teachers and students are on a first-name basis — as people, above all else, who sometimes form bonds that endure for a lifetime.
And always advancing…
From its founding, Paideia has understood that the best teachers continuously invest in their own learning. And it has ensured that these crucial avenues of professional development are many: educational conferences, on-campus workshops, visits from renowned lecturers, ongoing coursework and individually curated experiences tailored to faculty expertise and passions.
Paideia’s in-house team of innovative learning specialists, known as ile@p, offers teachers opportunities to develop their skills and bring ideas to life — everything from lesson planning and implementation to tech support. For example, Learning Walks led by ile@p encourage faculty from Half Day to High School to visit classrooms to observe, and be inspired by, their colleagues.
Emblems of the strong culture of learning at Paideia, teachers make the most of the considerable resources at their disposal and the invaluable incentive they provide each other — such that each classroom benefits from faculty investment in generative strategies and methodologies.

When I come here and talk about books, I hope that students understand this is all I’ve ever imagined doing.

…For the benefit of students
As teachers greet children enthusiastically each morning, with everyone receiving a shout-out, it is no wonder that traffic between classes is brisk: students are eager to get to the subjects and teachers that feed their curiosity. With days and minds this full, students are often reluctant for their time at school to end, though cheered by the promise of what tomorrow holds.
