This will be Paideia’s 2nd time sponsoring a 10-day language immersion program in Oaxaca, Mexico.
In Southern Mexico surrounded by mountains, Oaxaca is a vibrant hub of culinary, cultural, and artistic activity, along with a rich history worth exploring. Students will be immersed in the Spanish language and a Oaxacan lifestyle, staying with host families, riding the city bus, attending 15 hours of classes at the local university, and exploring the sights and sounds of the city.
In addition, they will go on numerous excursions, such as a tour of Monte Albán (Zapotec archaeological site), Hierve el Agua (mineral pools/ petrified waterfall), and Teotitlán del Valle (indigenous weaving community).
After-school activities will include painting alebrijes (small wooden animals), a latin dance class, cooking class, and a printmaking workshop. On free afternoons, the group will have some time to explore the vibrant city, various markets, street art, and culinary offerings.
