Track & Field - Junior High
We are very excited about the upcoming season! The goals of the JH Track & Field Team are for the athletes to develop their overall fitness levels, to increase their speed and strength, to try out new disciplines, to set and achieve both individual and Team goals, to race, throw, and jump well, to bond as a team, and to have fun in the process.
Running Track and engaging in Field Events will definitely challenge our athletes to push themselves to new heights, to develop new insights, and to reach a deeper understanding of themselves. By the conclusion of the season, we hope that each JH Track & Field Team Member will know s/he was an important part of something meaningful as well as something greater than the sum of its parts. Winning/placing high in individual races, events, and/or meets is icing on the cake.
Track & Field Team members can explore sprinting (100m, 200m, 400m), middle distance (800m), distance (1600m, 3200m), and hurdles (100/110m, 300m). Members of the Team will also be competing in the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800. The potential field event options include high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put and discus.
Being a member of the JH Track & Field Team is a fantastic experience. Your child will make new friends, get more fit, and really feel a part of something great. He/she does not have to have running experience to join (though that’s always a bonus) — just a positive outlook and an interest in trying something new!
2019 is destined to be an exciting season for the JH Track & Field Team. A solid number of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are demonstrating their interest and enthusiasm by either joining our Team for the first time or returning as experienced veterans. We are very much looking forward to another successful season!
