Goals and Philosophy

With a solid number of 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade students demonstrating their interest and enthusiasm by either joining our Team for the first time or returning as experienced veterans, 2019 is destined to be a very exciting season for the JH Cross Country Team. 

The goals of the JH Cross Country Team are for our athletes to develop their overall fitness levels, to increase their speed, strength, and endurance, to develop an enjoyment/lifelong passion for running, to set and achieve both individual and Team goals, to challenge themselves and each other, to race well and set new PRs, to bond as a team, and to have lots of fun in the process. 

JH Cross Country practices M, W, F, 3:15-6:00pm. Runners meet in the JH Commons and are provided transportation to and from a variety of running venues. Sometimes we will also run from Paideia. Our first official practice will be on Friday, August 9th, and our first meet is Saucony's Battle of Atlanta (Nash Farm, 8/24). Most meets are on Saturday mornings/midday, though we may have a weekday afternoon/evening meet or two.

Our final meet is the Georgia Middle School State Championships, which will be held on Saturday, October 12th, at Bleckley County Elementary in Cochran, GA.  We expect our runners to attend –- it is a fantastic experience and a wonderful way to end the season!

Uniforms will be provided and are to be returned at the end of the season.

Health Forms Required:  The Mandatory Health Questionnaire and Pre-participation Physical Exam Form must be completed and submitted to our Magnus Health system (please log into Parent Portal first) before an athlete can attend practice or compete.  Please submit/update these forms (3-4 pages) as soon as possible.   Also, a Concussion Awareness Form must be signed for each student participating in athletics (also done through Magnus).
