First off, tell us a little bit about your background. What have you been doing since you graduated from Paideia, and where are you now?
I studied Foreign Service at Georgetown University and spent a decade working on funding and partnerships in the international development and humanitarian assistance fields. The highlight was a post in Beirut, Lebanon for CARE. I made a career shift a few years ago after I had my daughter to be more present at home. I joined the family business and now divide my time between Atlanta, Dahlonega, and Nashville, GA to support two vineyards and a portfolio of wine brands.

With regards to your work at Doghobble Wine Farm, tell us about what led you to this path.
My mom’s family has been in the wine farming business in Georgia for nearly 3 decades. I am proud of our heritage and the southern art of winemaking using native grapes including muscadines. What inspires me today is the possibility to influence Georgia’s growing wine industry by prioritizing low-intervention farming practices and crafting premium wines that showcase native grapes (American varietals).

What do you most enjoy about your time there?
I am grateful for moments to follow my curiosity and learn, explore, and create beyond a computer screen. For example, I am currently working with a remarkable team of architects and interior designers to renovate our main tasting room, slated to open in early 2025. As a small business owner, I experience the deepest satisfaction when visitors discover and engage with our vineyard, wines, and brand in a meaningful way.

If you could go back in time and give the high-school version of yourself advice, what would it be?
Slow down and prioritize play. I’ve learned this from my 3 year old daughter and it rings true in most seasons of life.

Any favorite teacher(s) you want to give a thank you or shout out to?
Thank you Linda Epstein and Marci Weiland for launching me on the path of learning Spanish. And to Jane Pepperdene and Clark Cloyd for revealing the unmatched delight of reading.
