Technology
In this digital era, Paideia strives to create balance between digital literacy and childhood
Technology plays an integral role in Paideia’s learning environment. Digital media and communication permeate every area of our school, from the admissions office to the classroom. Our media centers, computer labs and classrooms use various devices and platforms, including iPads and laptops, desktops, interactive projection and more. We are committed to thoughtful technology integration in the curriculum at all grade levels. This integration not only equips students with digital media, design, processing and coding skills but also enhances their learning experience, fosters creativity and prepares them for the digital world they will enter as adults.
Our school places a strong emphasis on digital literacy, ensuring that our students are well-informed and aware of the digital landscape. Students’ first experience with technology in the early elementary years may be in the form of computer games or apps that teach word recognition or reinforce reading and math skills. Later, they learn to use productivity tools integrated in classroom activities and assignments. Digital literacy, digital citizenship and research skills are taught in the library and their homebase classrooms, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the digital world. This continues through the junior high years, when technology also facilitates the creation of multimedia presentations and collaborative projects.

High School students continue to develop their communication skills in foreign language, journalism, film, art and creative writing, using various advanced digital tools and platforms such as professional editing software, digital art programs and online publishing platforms. They also use simulation programs in science, modeling software in math classes and interactive electronic textbooks in select courses. High School students may also choose from various elective opportunities or independent studies in programming, digital design, maker mechanics and robotics.
We are deeply committed to teaching our students to be responsible digital citizens and mindful creators, not just consumers, of digital content. This commitment is a cornerstone of our educational approach, ensuring that our students engage with technology in a safe and secure manner. We view technology as a powerful tool of learning and instruction, linking students’ school lives to their local and global communities, and we are dedicated to ensuring that this connection is a positive and enriching one.
