Junior Varsity Academic Bowl Team Wins Second Consecutive State Championship

JV Academic Bowl Team

On February 24, Paideia's JV quiz bowlers finished their most successful campaign in program history. The team clinched their third tournament title of the year at the Georgia Academic Team Association (GATA) State Championship as they secured their second consecutive state crown. This win puts an unequivocal Paideia stamp on the 2023-24 GATA JV season, completing a trifecta of victories at the GATA Fall, GATA Winter, and GATA State Championship events.

After an up and down morning session including losses to two separate Westminster squads, Paideia gained strength throughout the afternoon playoff rounds, avenging both morning losses with victories over Westminster in the tournament semifinal and final.

Freshman Ethan Fu captained the Pythons to victory, with leading statistical contributions from sophomores Alex and Max Slopsema and freshman Alec Freeman. Freshmen Sarah Abraham, Rachel Morrison and Rohan Thomas were also invaluable, each making key contributions at important moments.

Junior Simone Green participated as an assistant coach on the day, supporting, encouraging and advising her teammates.

Congratulations to all team members on their state win and an excellent season!
