Paideia is a K-12 college preparatory school in the Druid Hills area of Atlanta. The junior high school enrolls 180 students. The junior high school curriculum consists of extensive offerings in English, social sciences, mathematics, modern languages, natural and physical sciences, art and music. Each of the six home base classes have 30 students.
This full-time position includes co leading a mixed 7th and 8th grade class. Students remain in home base classes for a two-year period. Other job requirements include; teaching language art and or social studies courses, weekly faculty meetings, carpool duty, chaperoning social events, and participating as a full member of the school community. Faculty members create courses for a 3 week long short term at the end of the school year. Some faculty members choose to act as a student activity sponsor or coach one of the many school sports teams.
We are looking for a dynamic educator to join our student-centered learning community. The position requires flexibility and confidence to design and teach humanities courses in our inclusive community. Issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are explored in every aspect of this school community and faculty members must be willing to lead in this area.
Ideally, applicants would have a humanities degree (English or History). A concentration in non-western disciplines is appreciated. While Masters level is preferred, it is not required. At least 3-5 years of teaching experience is also preferred.
