Academic Bowl Team Advances on "High Q"

Four Paideia Students Honored for Community Service

Four Paideia students, including one alum, were among the 20 Under 20 honored by Atlanta Intown newspaper for their community service. The program recognizes Atlanta area students under the age of 20 for their extensive community involvement. The volunteer work cited for the Paideia students included collecting 2,500 books for a rural community library, raising $2,700 through a swim-a-thon for childhood cancer research, running a toiletry drive for a shelter for homeless teenagers and organizing the library and tutoring students at an independent school for refugee teenage girls. Paideia Student on Fernbanks Robotics Team

A Paideia sophomore is part of the Fernbank LINKS robotics team that will compete in the Boosting Engineering Science & Technology (BEST) Robotics competition at Auburn University. The team is comprised of public, private and home schooled students. The team previously won first place in two categories at the Georgia BEST competition at Southern Polytechnic State University.

30 Paideia Students Win Scholastic Arts Awards

Thirty Paideia high school students were recipients of gold and silver medals and honorable mention from the Scholastic Arts and Writings awards program this year. In addition, one student has been nominated for the national American Visions awards. The students were recognized for their work in several mediums including ceramics and glass, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, digital art and design.

Robotics Teams Headed to World Championships

The Paideia high school robotics team competed in the Arabia Mountain Vex Qualifier in October and came in second. About 30 teams competed. The Paideia team also won the Excellence Award, given to the best all-around team. The team will compete in the Vex Robotic World Championships, which will be held in Anaheim, Calif., in the spring.
