Staff Development Goals

Revised June, 2011

A technology program is successful when teachers and other staff members effectively use the resources available and serve as role models for students. Through workshops, in-house support, and conferences, our goal at Paideia is for all persons on the staff to develop the following skills:

  • Navigate a desktop, open folders and launch applications
  • Effectively operate CD-based applications
  • Use a word processor including the spell checker, thesaurus, and formatting features
  • Use a spreadsheet to calculate data and to create graphs and charts
  • Use the relational database PowerSchool for recording and accessing attendance, student progress reports, and parent information
  • Access library catalogs at Paideia, the Atlanta Public Library, and local universities
  • Make use of subscription databases and other electronic resources via the Internet
  • Use the Internet to do a structured Internet search and to retrieve and print data and graphics
  • Make extensive use of e-mail
  • Back up and transfer files between computers
  • Store and retrieve information from their private folders via the Paideia network
  • Perform basic computer troubleshooting skills
  • Participate in a network for teachers to share success stories
  • Develop a teacher web page
